OK people, this is my friend Claire. I think she is bonkers because she likes running marathons. Not only that she ropes in her friends to do it too! Not me of course because I am a lazy sod and prefer to let my fingers do the running… along my keyboard!
Claire ran a half marathon in the middle of summer and now she is going to run the Chester Metric Marathon in October.
So she is a little mad and she does things I don’t, then why are we friends? Because we both care very much about a common cause. Rescue Animals in Need.
Could you give them your encouragement and support? The donations will go to help the tireless work of both these rescues and help unwanted, abandoned and often abused animals in desperate need of shelter, food and love.
German Shepherd Dog Rescue is a rescue run by a dedicated group of volunteers with a love of German Shepherds, giving their time and devotion to the welfare of this wonderful breed. We rescue and rehome German Shepherds across the country.
Capricorn Animal Rescue has been established since 1983 and takes in all types unwanted, orphaned, abandoned and abused animals from around the North West and beyond. We are run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give their time freely to care for the animals in the Sanctuary. We are open 7 days a week and on call 24 hours for emergency animal care.
Let me tell you about Coco. Against all odds, not only did little Coco survive parvo, she also came through thoracic surgery for Persistent Right Aortic Arch. Without the support and donations from some very kind people I don’t even want to think about what might have been!
On 11 May 2014 two teams of dedicated volunteers will be running the Leeds Half Marathon to raise much needed funds for dogs like Coco. Please help support their effort.
Rescue Dogs like Coco and all the other dogs I write about on this blog need you!
Coco was one of the lucky ones, she was brought into rescue just in the nick of time. She has the full backing of everyone at GSDR and she wants to help other less fortunate than herself. Please donate so we can make the lives of many more of our furbabies in the future.
Coco’s Dad Andy
Grateful thanks to Helen Preshous for the fabulous photos of Coco & friends on the beach.
Update January 2014: Sadly King slipped away quietly and peacefully on 2nd January. He was cared by his foster mother till his last day. It is a small consolation that he died surrounded by the love he never got for most of his life.
RIP King 2001 – Jan 2nd 2014
Original Post: October 2013
This is King, an 11 year old GSD that was an emergency rescue on Friday 8th February 2013. Julie Wilkinson and Angela Hargreaves of GSDR pulled out all the stops and got him out of the pound in the nick of time – literally hours before he was due to be put to sleep. King is now safe with a GSDR volunteer who will look after him for the rest of his days.
Its for Dogs like King that the charity needs ongoing donations. Your support helps the volunteers to carry on the good work in helping as many dogs as possible lead a safe life.
