Running Marathons! OK…

Fundraising - claire
We are running the Chester Metric Marathon on 5th October 2014, please help us meet our target and raise £600.00

OK people, this is my friend Claire. I think she is bonkers because she likes running marathons. Not only that she ropes in her friends to do it too! Not me of course because I am a lazy sod and prefer to let my fingers do the running… along my keyboard!

Claire ran a half marathon in the middle of summer and now she is going to run the Chester Metric Marathon in October.

So she is a little mad and she does things I don’t, then why are we friends? Because we both care very much about a common cause. Rescue Animals in Need.

Claire (in red) and her friend Katie will be running in the Chester Metric Marathon to raise money for a rescue very close to my heart – German Shepherd Dog Rescue and for Capricorn Animal Rescue

Could you give them your encouragement and support? The donations will go to help the tireless work of both these rescues and help unwanted, abandoned and often abused animals in desperate need of shelter, food and love.

Donations save Lives. Just ask Coco!

Let me tell you about Coco.  Against all odds, not only did little Coco survive parvo, she also came through thoracic surgery for Persistent Right Aortic Arch. Without the support and donations from some very kind people I don’t even want to think about what might have been!

On 11 May 2014 two teams of dedicated volunteers will be running the Leeds Half Marathon to raise much needed funds for dogs like Coco. Please help support their effort.

Rescue Dogs like Coco and all the other dogs I write about on this blog need you!

coco-fundraise-4Coco was one of the lucky ones, she was brought into rescue just in the nick of time. She has the full backing of everyone at GSDR and she wants to help other less fortunate than herself. Please donate so we can make the lives of many more of our furbabies in the future.

Coco’s Dad Andy

Grateful thanks to Helen Preshous for the fabulous photos of Coco & friends on the beach.

Old German Shepherd King – Abused, then Abandoned!!

Update January 2014:  Sadly King slipped away quietly and peacefully on 2nd January. He was cared by his foster mother till his last day. It is a small consolation that he died surrounded by the love he never got for most of his life.

RIP King 2001 – Jan 2nd 2014

Original Post: October 2013

This is King, an 11 year old GSD that was an emergency rescue on Friday 8th February 2013. Julie Wilkinson and Angela Hargreaves of GSDR pulled out all the stops and got him out of the pound in the nick of time – literally hours before he was due to be put to sleep. King is now safe with a GSDR volunteer who will look after him for the rest of his days.

Its for Dogs like King that the charity needs ongoing donations. Your support helps the volunteers to carry on the good work in helping as many dogs as possible lead a safe life.

Christmas is almost here. Chenko and his kennel friends wrote a letter to Santa. Will Santa give Chenko and friends their wish? Could you put in a word for them and remind Santa for them? And share the letter with your friends too? Please?

Animal Helpline is a dog rescue taking in unwanted pets & strays and re-homing to loving new owners. Animal helpline is now a registered charity: number 1151287

Our special appeal is for the dog that most people would not give a second glance to. Most people when looking for a new companion are looking for a Spaniel, Labrador, little dog or Collie type. This appeal is for the dogs that would normally have to wait many months for new homes because of how they look. These dogs all have huge potential and lots of love to give, they just need that special person to look beyond and see the wonderful dog they really are.
